The problem
Lion is a leading beverages company in Australasia with fast-growing operations in the United States. Lion's finance team needed to transition from a transactional, order-taking function to a proactive, strategic business partner role: developing the skills and mindset to influence decision-making and add value beyond traditional financial reporting.

The challenge was designing a program that could build genuine capability at scale, across multiple regions, without the cost and logistics of bringing people together in person.
Our solution
We designed developed and delivered a Strategic Business Partnering Program to equip finance professionals with the capabilities needed to contribute strategically across the business.

The program included:
-
Comprehensive research to identify best practices in finance business partnering.
-
Co-design workshops with the leadership team to define key competencies and tailor the program to business needs.
-
A pilot program delivered to 25 senior finance leaders, followed by iterative refinements based on participant feedback.
-
A scalable delivery model using vitual facilitation, allowing the program to be rolled out to broader audiences across multiple regions without travel expenditure.
-
Continuous improvement built in after each cohort to strengthen the learning experience over time.
The outcome
The Strategic Business Partnering Program was delivered to over 200 people across four countries, with zero travel expenditure.

The results spoke for themselves:
-
A Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 59%.
-
Strong word-of-mouth saw team members from Shared Services, IT and Sales opt in beyond the original finance audience.
-
Recognition with a Diamond LearnX Award for Best Learning & Development Project.

By equipping the Finance, Shared Services and IT teams with the skills to think and act strategically, Lion strengthened decision-making and business performance across the organisation.

This program was designed and delivered by Jen and Nicola prior to founding Learnopolis.
