Simplifying ≠ Dumbing Down

Simplifying learning isn’t the same as dumbing it down.

This year, we have spent a lot of time helping teams tidy up overloaded inductions, long eLearns and clunky training journeys.

A pattern keeps showing up:

  • Content is duplicated, scattered or out of date

  • Learners feel overloaded, so they skim or click through

  • Important messages get lost in the noise

When we simplify, we’re not taking away the thinking. We’re taking away the friction.

Simplifying learning might look like:

  • Cutting repetition and sharpening the “need to know”

  • Breaking long modules into shorter, purposeful pieces

  • Making navigation intuitive so people can find what they need quickly

  • Using visuals and interactions to clarify, not decorate

The outcome? Learning that is faster to complete, easier to follow and more likely to be applied - without losing the depth that matters.

So, as you review your learning this year, a useful question might be:

Where are we making people work harder than they need to, just to get to the good stuff?
